Planning Your Pathway To Shenandoah!
We accept all credits from accredited institutions up to 90 credits. We have a personalized process that focuses on transferring the credits you have earned to apply toward your desired degree pathway.
Transfer students can plan their pathway to Shenandoah by using several tools we have developed specifically to help navigate the process. Transfer students can feel confident in their choices and academic pathways by choosing courses and knowing how they will transfer to different academic programs at Shenandoah.
Course Equivalencies
Shenandoah University has set course equivalencies with all of the schools in the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and is continually adding equivalencies for partner institutions. Applicants can also visit our transfer equivalency chart with Portage Learning to review courses we accept. All Portage courses are online and self-paced.
The Following Types Of Credit Transfer To Shenandoah University
- Courses in which a grade of C- or higher has been achieved*
- Non-Collegiate sponsored instruction, such as armed services and testing service examinations recognized through the American Council on Education (ACE)
- Overseas credits that have been officially reviewed by an academic credentialing service such as World Education Services (WES), Josephy Silney & Associates, etc.
- Credit by Examination to include AP, IB Higher-Level, and CLEP
Shenandoah University participates in the Advanced Placement program (AP), the International Baccalaureate Examination program (IB) for higher-level course, and the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP). Students who have been officially admitted to Shenandoah must submit official copies of test results in order to receive credit.

*Please note that not all transferable credit will apply towards a degree.
*Transfer institution must be fully accredited by one of the six regional accrediting agencies. Credits taken at a non-accredited institution must undergo an appeal process to transfer. The student must provide documentation demonstrating equivalency to include a syllabus and professor credentials for each course undergoing appeal.
